Job Description:

The Associate Product Development Scientist DS1 plays a vital role within the Europe R&D team. This position involves insight development, designing, and translating product innovations, primarily focused on Chocolate, for the Favourites growth areas. The role also includes executing regional value leadership and supply security projects. The incumbent will provide deep technical understanding of products and processes, collaborate with lead markets to foster innovation, and be responsible for product development activities within the Europe R&D team.

This role requires technical expertise to manage multiple projects, exploring new perspectives to solve existing and new brand challenges within the Chocolate portfolio. As a regional Associate Product Development Scientist, the role may involve working across various product categories based on business needs, allowing flexible project resourcing.

The ideal candidate will have a strong drive for results, excellent project management skills, a creative and entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to build strong networks and relationships to support the innovation agenda. They will work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver relevant innovations.

What are we looking for?
  • A BS or equivalent degree in a technical field such as engineering, chemistry, or food science.
  • Project management skills.
  • Experience working in a kitchen, lab, or pilot plant.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, along with learning agility.
  • Experience collaborating with external vendors to meet project requirements.
  • Hands-on experience in developing and successfully launching new products, packaging, and processes in FMCG.
  • Experience working with marketing and supply teams.
What will be your key responsibilities?
  • Design, develop, and scale-up new chocolate products, raw materials, processes, recipes, and specifications for full-scale production, providing a competitive advantage.
  • Lead and direct projects to ensure timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Develop and implement quality plans throughout the product pipeline, from raw materials to shelf life.
  • Translate and interpret chocolate recipes to meet regulatory and legal requirements.
