The Associate Product Development Scientist DS1 is a key role within the Europe R&D team, responsible for insight development, design, and translation of product innovations, primarily in Chocolate. The role includes executing regional value leadership and supply security projects, providing deep technical understanding, and collaborating with lead markets to foster innovation. The incumbent manages product development activities and ensures project execution within the Europe R&D team.

This position requires technical expertise to execute projects, exploring new perspectives for brand solutions within the Chocolate portfolio. The role may also work across other product categories based on business needs, enabling flexible project resourcing.

The Associate Product Development Scientist is driven to achieve results, possesses excellent project management skills, and has a creative, entrepreneurial growth mindset. They build strong networks and work both independently and with guidance to deliver innovation, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

What are we looking for?
  • A BS or degree equivalent in engineering, chemistry, or food science.
  • Project management skills.
  • Experience working in a kitchen, lab, or pilot plant.
  • Excellent communication skills and learning agility.
  • Experience working with external vendors to meet project requirements.
  • Hands-on experience in developing and launching new products, packages, and processes in FMCG.
  • Experience collaborating with marketing and supply teams.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Designing, developing, and managing scale-up of new chocolate products, raw materials, processes, recipes, and specifications for full-scale production, providing a competitive edge.
  • Leading and guiding project delivery on time and within budget.
  • Implementing quality plans throughout the product pipeline, from raw materials to shelf life.
  • Interpreting and translating chocolate recipes to meet regulatory and legal requirements.
