Job summary

Trowers & Hamlins, a leading construction law firm, seeks an Associate in Manchester to join a strong team of 61 fee earners. You will advise on complex projects, disputes, and risk management while developing industry knowledge across domestic and international matters.

Responsibilities

• Advising clients including regional and national contractors and developers, local and central government departments on complex construction projects.
• Advising on dispute resolution, including adjudication, mediation, the resolution of claims under the pre-action protocol for construction and engineering disputes and litigation.
• Advising on dispute avoidance, risk management and contractual interpretation.
• Domestic projects in the main but with the opportunity to become involved in international matters.
• Building and maintaining effective client relationships.
• Actively participating in marketing initiatives.
• Proactive involvement in the wider life of the firm, for example supporting our responsible business, social impact and ED&I initiatives.

The Role

Where you'll work

You will form part of a strong team of 61 fee earners and will be supported in keeping ahead of the latest industry trends and developments to best deliver for our clients.

We advise on some of the largest development, regeneration, and mixed-use schemes in the country, with all the complexities that brings, and have a broad range of clients: we act for private and public sector developers, institutional investors, in the education sector, institutional investors, and contractors. Unlike most construction practices, we self-generate most of our work as well as supporting our real estate, banking and corporate practices. You will be supported by strong leadership and supervision to enable you to develop your understanding of the construction sector locally, nationally, and internationally. We work on a collaborative basis which means you will be encouraged to share your ideas and get involved in the team's initiatives.

What you'll be doing

• Advising on dispute resolution, including adjudication, mediation, the resolution of claims under the pre-action protocol for construction and engineering disputes and litigation
• Advising on dispute avoidance, risk management and contractual interpretation
• Domestic projects in the main but with the opportunity to become involved in international matters
• Building and maintaining effective client relationships.
• Actively participating in marketing initiatives.

The Candidate
