Job description

The Black Country Medical School (BCMS) at the University of Wolverhampton offers a new, forward-thinking approach to medical education, serving the needs of the local population, students, staff and the NHS whilst influencing nationally and internationally through teaching and research.

Our MBChB programme launches in 2027, and we are now seeking to appoint Associate Professor's in Biomedical Sciences in a range of Biomedical Science disciplines to support its delivery and ongoing development. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our new medical programme, and we are seeking applicants with expertise in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry/immunology, cell biology, pharmacology and therapeutics, ideally with a background in medical or health professions’ education.

In this role, you will contribute to teaching, assessment, curriculum development and student support within an integrated medical curriculum and take on other roles based on interests and experience. You should be able to demonstrate academic leadership and experience of programme development, curriculum innovation and research.

You should hold a degree in a relevant discipline and normally a PhD (or equivalent professional experience), with a commitment to delivering an excellent student experience. BCMS offers a supportive and collaborative environment with opportunities to develop your educational practice, engage in research, and contribute to an innovative medical programme that aims to widen participation in medical education and improve health outcomes across the region and beyond.
