Job summary

Cyprotex, part of the Evotec Group, invites applications for an Associate Principal Scientist, HT-Analytical Method Development based in Alderley Park. You will lead method development projects using LC-MS/LC-MS/MS for non-standard compounds and mentor junior staff.

This permanent role requires a strong track record in bioanalytical method development, team leadership, and collaboration across disciplines to deliver compliant, high‑quality data.

Qualifications

• Minimum BSc in relevant scientific discipline covering chemistry with experience of working within industry.
• Extensive experience of developing robust bioanalytical methods using relevant compound handling, sample preparation and LC-MS workflows.
• Experience with LC-MS/MS techniques in support of pre-clinical small/large molecule assays.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct Method Development projects (using LC-MS or LC-MS/MS) for non standard client compounds that are proposed to run through a range of ADME assays.
• Perform and document fit for purpose method qualification studies for relevant regulatory DDI projects.
• Senior point of contact for project related communication on assigned method development projects.
• Collaborate with scientists from beyond the Analytical team to understand context of application of methods.
• Ensure that all errors and erroneous results are reported and corrected with minimal delay.
• Keep up to date with relevant scientific advances and regulatory guidelines in Analytical Sciences.
• Ensure all laboratory equipment and work areas are kept clean and in proper working order.
• Ensure accurate and complete documentation of all activities per SOPs and Quality policies.
• Keep up to date with future technologies/instrumentation and implementation for HT-Analytical Method Development.
• Influence direction and investment in analytical capabilities as a senior member.

We are currently recruiting for a Associate Principal Scientist, HT-Analytical Method Development to join our Analytical Sciences team based in Alderley Park.

Role: Associate Principal Scientist (High Throughput ADME Method Development)

Role Type: Permanent

Department: Analytical Sciences

Responsible for: Junior team members, as may be assigned

Working hours: Full time, 9am-5pm, Monday – Friday (37.5 hours per week)

Role and Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct Method Development projects (using LC-MS or LC-MS/MS) for non standard client compounds (including difficult small molecules and diverse chemical modalities) that are proposed to run through a range of ADME assays
• Perform and document fit for purpose method qualification studies for relevant regulatory DDI projects
• To be a senior point of contact both internally and externally, for project related communication on a range of assigned method development projects,
• To collaborate with scientists from beyond the Analytical team in order to understand the context of application of methods
• Ensure that all errors and erroneous results are reported and corrected with minimal delay.
• To keep up to date with relevant scientific advances and regulatory guidelines in the field of Analytical Sciences.
• Ensure all laboratory equipment and work areas are kept clean and in proper working order on completion of assigned tasks.
• To ensure accurate and complete documentation of all activities as required by relevant SOPs and Quality policies.
• To keep up to date with future technologies/instrumentation establishing benefits and implementation for HT-Analytical Method Development
• As a Senior member of the Analytical team influence the direction and investment in analytical capabilities.

Skills & Competencies (essential)

• Minimum BSc in relevant scientific discipline covering chemistry with experience of working within industry
• Extensive experience of developing robust bioanalytical methods using relevant compound handling, sample preparation and LC-MS workflows.
• Produce accurate documentation and report all method development activities and results in a clear and coherent manner, maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work without close supervision.
• Highly motivated team player with a high level of dedication.
• Plan, schedule and carry out your work effectively for successful project completion to tight deadlines.
• Experience in working with LC-MS/MS techniques in support of pre‑clinical small/large molecule assays.
• Experience with MassLynx™, Analyst™, Sciex OS or other Mass Spectrometry data‑acquisition software packages.
• A wider knowledge of analytical support in drug discovery/development.
• A knowledge of DMPK/ADME assays within drug discovery.
• The ability to perform routine maintenance/troubleshoot on LC-MS/MS equipment
• People Coach, mentor and line manage other members of the team meetings, regular 1 to1 discussions and ad hoc interactions.
