Job summary

The Bristol Home Ventilation Unit within the Bristol Royal Infirmary is seeking an Associate NIV Physiologist (Band 4) to provide daytime clinical support in Sleep Studies, including overnight oximetry, issuing Sentec devices and mask fittings for patients.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, assist with stock management, and undertake diagnostic testing while delivering patient-centered care in a busy outpatient setting.

Qualifications

  • 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths.
  • NVQ3 or equivalent in relevant subject.
  • Customer Service Training.
  • NHS Experience.

Responsibilities

  • Be an important member of the Multidisciplinary Team, supporting patients and families.
  • Undertake and perform simple interpretation of diagnostics and assessments in sleep studies.
  • Support implementation and monitoring of treatment plans.
  • Communicate basic interpretations of results to healthcare professionals.
  • Support the sleep unit telephone line and emails for home ventilation service.
  • Triage urgency of calls and action requests per protocols.
  • Ensure accuracy of clinical information on Careflow with admin staff.

Job overview

The Bristol Home Ventilation Unit is a thriving outpatient facility for the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory sleep disorders, delivering a range of sleep tests, including issuing sleep studies and therapy sessions. The department forms part of the Respiratory Medicine Department at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. The post holder may occasionally need to be work from a different clinical setting, such as South Bristol Community Hospital.

We are looking for a caring individual to help assist the Sleep Unit team deliver daytime clinical support to its many patients. As part of this busy and dynamic department you will be required to work within the team, supporting the service. This role will hold some responsibility for stock ordering as well as being able to undertake diagnostic testing such as overnight oximetry, issuing Sentec devices and mask fittings for patients.

You should have the ability to work flexibly, be able to work using your own initiative and enjoy working as part of a team. A keen eye for detail and accuracy is also required.

Main duties of the job
  • To work as an important member of the Multidisciplinary Team within UHBW, providing support to patients (both inpatients and outpatients), and their families.
  • Undertake and perform simple interpretation of a range of diagnostics and assessments in sleep studies.
  • Support the implementation of treatment plans and ongoing monitoring of treatment.
  • Communicate basic interpretation of results to the appropriate healthcare professional.
  • Support provision of the telephone support line and emails for the Home Ventilation service.
  • Triage urgency of calls and action requests following agreed protocols.
  • Ensure accuracy of clinical information on Careflow by liaising with administrative staff.
