Our client is a leading Building Services Design and Consultancy firm specialising in Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health, and Vertical Transportation services. With a wide range of services, including Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Design, Public Health Design, Fire Safety, Lighting Simulation, Infrastructure Design, Energy Performance Certification, BREEAM, and 3D Revit-MEP Design, they utilize the latest technologies to deliver innovative solutions that comply with Low Carbon Legislation. Their Liverpool MEP team is expanding and seeking an Associate Mechanical Design Engineer focused on sustainable development to join an innovative team delivering exceptional, sustainable building services.

Location: Liverpool (City Centre)
Salary: £70,000 to £75,000 (depending on experience)

Purpose of the Role: The Associate HVAC Designer will be instrumental in leading our mechanical design team, ensuring excellence in every project. This role demands a visionary leader with a deep understanding of sustainable building services and a commitment to innovation and quality.

The successful candidate will leverage their extensive experience to oversee all mechanical design aspects, from initial concept development to project completion. They will drive the integration of cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices, ensuring that our designs comply with the latest industry standards and low carbon legislation. This position requires a dynamic individual capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining stringent budget controls and timelines while delivering exceptional results. This opportunity will also be pivotal in client relationship management, working closely with architects, stakeholders, and clients to develop comprehensive and creative design solutions that meet and exceed expectations.

As an Associate HVAC Designer, you’ll need to have:

  1. Extensive Experience: Proven track record in mechanical (HVAC) design within the building services industry, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  2. Technical Proficiency: Expertise in utilising design software such as AutoCAD, Revit-MEP, and other relevant tools, with advanced knowledge of mechanical systems and components.
  3. Project Management: Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to budgets and timelines, with experience in leading large-scale projects.
  4. Sustainable Practices: In-depth understanding of sustainable design principles and low-carbon legislation, focusing on implementing energy-efficient solutions.
  5. Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership capabilities to mentor and guide junior team members effectively, with experience in leading a team of engineers.
  6. Client Engagement: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clients, architects, and stakeholders, with a proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  7. Problem-Solving: Creative and analytical approach to developing innovative design solutions, with a strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex engineering issues.
  8. Continuous Learning: Commitment to staying updated with industry developments and advancements with a proactive professional development and training approach.
  9. Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of industry standards, codes, and HVAC design and building services regulations.
  10. Certification: Professional engineering certification (e.g., CEng, PE) is highly desirable.
