Job summary

National Composites Centre in Bristol is seeking an Associate Manufacturing Engineer to join our Engineering & Manufacturing team. You will provide technical support in our workshop, helping plan and deliver manufacturing activities safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

You'll work with engineers, technicians and project teams to support processes, deliver manufacturing solutions and ensure resources, equipment and documentation are in place to meet customer requirements.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a workshop or industrial environment with hands-on manufacturing/engineering activities.
  • Ability to follow and produce technical documentation such as work instructions, process docs or risk assessments.
  • Good awareness of health, safety and quality requirements in manufacturing.
  • Proactive problem-solver with attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
  • Collaborative team player with ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Support manufacturing activities and workshop operations across projects.
  • Assist planning and coordination of resources, equipment, and workspace requirements.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation including process instructions, risk assessments and records.
  • Support engineers and project teams in developing and delivering manufacturing solutions.
  • Monitor activities and capture data to support workshop performance and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to project proposals and technical deliverables requiring manufacturing input.
  • Collaborate with technicians, engineers, and workshop users to resolve day-to-day challenges.
  • Support implementation and development of manufacturing processes and best practice in the workshop.
  • Prepare clear documentation and project updates for customers and stakeholders.
  • Take ownership of specific workshop areas, equipment or activities when required.

Whether your experience comes from manufacturing, production, engineering or an apprenticeship route, you'll be part of a team developing and delivering cutting‑edge technologies across a range of sectors.

The role

As an Associate Manufacturing Engineer, you'll provide technical support within our workshop environment, helping to plan and deliver manufacturing activities safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

Working closely with engineers, technicians and project teams, you'll support manufacturing processes, contribute to project delivery and help ensure resources, equipment and documentation are in place to meet customer requirements. This is a varied role that combines practical engineering, technical problem‑solving and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
