Job summary

University of the Arts London (Central Saint Martins) invites applications for an Associate Lecturer – Technical Tutor. You will deliver technical tuition across structure, environment, materials, construction and sustainability to BA (Hons) Architecture students, guiding groups of 8–25 and supporting assessment.

Based in King's Cross, London, this hourly paid, fixed-term role offers both basic and enhanced teaching rates and requires current professional or research expertise, with HE teaching

Join Central Saint Martins as an Associate Lecturer – Technical Tutor and help BA (Hons) Architecture students develop the technical understanding that underpins ambitious and responsible architectural practice.

Working within the Technical Studies Unit in the Spatial Practices Programme, you will deliver technical tuition across areas including structure, environment, materials, construction and sustainability. You will work with groups of approximately 8–25 students, providing structured learning through classes, tutorials, workshops and studio critiques, as well as contributing to formative and summative assessment.

You will bring current professional, academic or research expertise into the learning environment, helping students connect technical knowledge with their developing architectural practice. As part of the course team, you will also contribute to the wider student experience through assessment, feedback, course activity and effective communication with students and colleagues.

We are building a pool of Associate Lecturers who can join the existing teaching team as opportunities arise.

About you

You will be knowledgeable, creative and empathetic, with current expertise or professional practice in a relevant specialist field and an enthusiasm for sharing that knowledge with students.

You will have a BA or equivalent degree/experience and experience of teaching and assessment in higher education, or equivalent experience alongside a strong interest in teaching at HE level. An MA or equivalent higher degree in a relevant area is desirable.

You will be an effective and inclusive communicator, comfortable working with a large and diverse student community and collaborating with colleagues across the course team. You will be able to bring fresh ideas to teaching and learning, build positive relationships with students and apply practical and innovative approaches to support excellent, inclusive pedagogy.
