Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented professional to join the EMEA Capital Markets Operations team, supporting international settlements across multiple markets. This role supports the end-to-end settlement lifecycle of securities transactions across EMEA markets, helping ensure trades are instructed, matched, and settled accurately within market deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • Process the end-to-end settlement lifecycle of securities transactions across EMEA markets, ensuring trades are instructed, matched, and settled accurately within applicable market deadlines.
  • Monitor daily settlement queues and follow up on unmatched trades, failed settlements, and cash or stock exceptions in a timely manner.
  • Investigate and resolve routine settlement breaks and discrepancies, escalating more complex issues appropriately to senior team members where required.
  • Liaise with brokers, custodians, counterparties, and internal operational teams to obtain updates, confirmations, and resolve day-to-day settlement issues.
  • Perform daily reconciliations across systems, cash accounts, and position accounts, ensuring timely identification, documentation, and escalation of breaks.
  • Ensure adherence to SOPs, market cut-offs, regulatory requirements, and internal control procedures, while completing all required control checks, sign-offs, and documentation evidence in line with governance standards.
  • Support process improvement initiatives by identifying recurring manual touchpoints, common breaks, and operational inefficiencies, and maintain accurate records of pending issues, client queries, and settlement exceptions through internal trackers and reporting tools.
  • Collaborate effectively with senior associates and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow coverage during peak periods, breaks, and market events, while contributing to an inclusive and team-focused environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 1–3 years of experience in capital markets operations, preferably in settlements or trade support.
  • Solid understanding of the trade lifecycle and settlement processes across multiple asset classes.
  • Familiarity with EMEA market practices and settlement cycles, such as T+2.
  • Experience with industry platforms such as Euroclear, Clearstream, CREST, or similar systems is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve complex breaks independently; high attention to detail when handling large volumes of transactions; and sound risk awareness to identify and escape operational and settlement risks appropriately.
  • Effective stakeholder management, ownership, time management, collaboration, and a process improvement mindset, with the ability to communicate confidently across regions, manage competing priorities, take accountability through resolution, and support colleagues across the team.
