Responsible to: Associate General Manager

Contract: Permanent

Location: Mix of home working and from The Old Vic, 103 The Cut, London, SE1 8NB (min 3 office days)

Hours: Full-Time - 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, with additional hours as needed

Salary: £37,300 to £39,300 per annum, depending on experience

The Old Vic offers flexible working under our Hybrid Working policy. Additional hours may be necessary to fulfill post requirements.

Areas of Responsibility

The Associate General Manager will be responsible for:

  • Acting as the Project Manager for each production, including being the lead contact for all internal and external stakeholders, managing relationships, and coordinating with cast, creatives, stage management, and technical teams.
  • Working closely with Production Assistant(s) and keeping the Producer and General Manager informed of the production process and potential issues.
  • Maintaining accurate schedules for each show and liaising with Marketing and Box Office.
  • Communicating regularly with the Technical team regarding production requirements.
  • Supporting the pastoral care of actors and creative teams in collaboration with the show Company Stage Manager.
  • Managing negotiations, offers, and agreements for creative team members, cast, and technical crew.
  • Booking audition and rehearsal spaces, and managing casting contracts and licenses.
  • Updating cast and crew deal summaries and coordinating auditions, rehearsals, and technical periods.
  • Ensuring adherence to theatre policies and overseeing access requirements for performances.
  • Handling PRS applications, music clearances, and leading production team meetings in the absence of the General Manager and Producer.
  • Managing insurance liaising, tax status assessments, VAT payments, and visa applications.
  • Keeping production proposals for awards like the Olivier Awards and managing panellist bookings.
  • Staying updated on union agreements and policies related to pensions, making sure the team is informed of any changes.
Budgets and Accounts
  • Assisting with budget preparation and managing production budgets within allocated limits.
  • Keeping budgets updated and reconciled, and overseeing invoice processing and royalty payments.
Press and Marketing
  • Supporting press night planning, coordinating with marketing, and proofing publicity materials.
  • Providing content and access for marketing and press activities, and attending weekly meetings.
General
  • Attending meetings and performances, representing the department, and undertaking special projects.
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies and managing logistics and budgets for workshops.

Person Specification

Essential

  • At least 2 years' experience in theatre producing or general management.

  • Diplomatic, discreet, and confident in dealing with high-profile individuals.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organisational skills.
  • Experience negotiating staff and artist contracts and understanding union agreements.
