Job Description
My client, a major, highly-experienced Multidisciplinary Consultancy, is currently searching for an Associate Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant to join their accomplished team of engineers, based in the bustling, diverse city of Manchester.
Essential Criteria:
- A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Geography, Environmental Sciences, or similar disciplines (or extensive equivalent commercial experience)
- Demonstrable experience within flood risk and drainage, including with design guidance in alignment with relevant laws and procedures
- Demonstrable experience of project management within the industry
- Experience of stakeholder management across the public and private sectors, with commercial knowledge and awareness
- Good working knowledge of software packages, including MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage, AutoCAD, QGIS (and other GIS software)
Beneficial Skills and Experience:
- Chartered Membership of a Professional Body (or proactively working towards Chartered Status)
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with internal and external stakeholders
- Flexible and adaptable, with excellent time management skills
Role Responsibilities:
- Managing a range of projects from inception through to completion
- Preparing proposals and tenders, drawing upon technical and commercial experience
- Producing Flood Risk Assessments, Flood Scoping Reports, and Drainage Strategies; overseeing their completion by colleagues
- Leading the team in conceptual drainage design (including SuDS techniques) and creating relevant drainage plans
- Reviewing reports, drawings, and calculations
- Presenting Flood Risk Appraisals to clients, providing practical risk mitigation, recommendations, and commercial advice
- Line managing colleagues and supporting their professional development
