Associate Electrical Engineer

Buro Happold is recruiting for an Associate Electrical Engineer to join our Building Environments team in Manchester.

This role is suited to a candidate from a Buildings background seeking industry-leading design opportunities within a vibrant, multi-disciplinary practice.

We support hybrid working; however, candidates will be expected to travel to our Manchester office several days a week.

The role

You may work as an electrical designer on large projects or as a project engineer on smaller schemes, tackling technically challenging projects like Manchester Science Park, Space Studios, and a new development in Liverpool.

Key Duties:

• Lead the electrical team and assume project leadership roles as needed.
• Communicate with clients, offering innovative design solutions and managing expectations.
• Develop technical and financial proposals for new projects.
• Manage workloads of engineers and technicians.
• Prepare technical specifications.
• Monitor project financials and oversee administrative systems, including resource planning and expenditure monitoring.

Your Skills and Experience

We expect you to demonstrate:

• Extensive electrical design experience in an MEP consultancy, with leadership experience.
• Diverse sector experience, preferably with large-scale projects.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering.
• Professional registration (e.g., CIBSE, IET).
• Good understanding of other design disciplines.
• Proficiency in Revit is preferred, with willingness to learn if necessary.
