Job summary

Ridge and Partners LLP in Reading is seeking an Associate to join our experienced MEP team based at our Reading offices.

You will lead electrical building services design projects, manage project teams, mentor juniors, and liaise with architects, structural engineers and contractors to deliver compliant and cost‑effective solutions. We value client service and collaborative delivery across sectors including science and education.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in electrical building services design from either a consultant or contractor background.
• Accredited degree or higher in an applicable discipline (HNC/HND).
• To have achieved or working towards IEng or CEng status.
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a close-knit team toward a shared goal.
• Attention to detail and a strong desire to deliver high standards of client care.

Responsibilities

• Lead MEP engineering teams delivering a range of project work.
• Manage risk within MEP engineering projects; having good working knowledge of MEP scope/appointments and excellent commercial acumen.
• Act as the lead engineer in a design team being responsible for electrical building services concept and detailed design.
• Supervise and monitor the work of others in this function.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers.
• Produce reports, drawings and specifications to suit various RIBA design stages.
• Use specialist computer-aided design (CAD) and BIM (Revit) software and other resources to design the systems required for the project.
• Liaise closely with other professionals, including structural engineers, architects, surveyors, and contractors of in-house and external project teams.
• Attend a range of project group and technical meetings.
• Ensure that the design and maintenance of building systems meets legislative and health and safety requirements.

You will be able to demonstrate extensive experience of working in a design capacity with good working knowledge of building services installations. Working as part of a team, you will be confident dealing with clients and leading MEP project work. You will be expected to manage your own project teams, delivering design work to the required standards while providing excellent levels of client service.
