About The Role

Grade Level (for internal use): 12

The Role: Platts is seeking a highly skilled individual to join its Oil Markets Pricing leadership team as Associate Editorial Director, Europe & Africa Oil. The role involves overseeing daily coverage and assessment of Platts EMEA Crude Oil and Fuel Oil markets, including benchmarks like Dated Brent and High Sulfur Fuel Oil, among others.

Reporting to the Global Director, Crude and Fuel Oil, you will lead a large editorial team (9-13 members), covering complex commodity markets across Europe & Africa. Responsibilities include strategic content development and managing day-to-day editorial operations, with a focus on relevance in the evolving bunker fuels market amidst climate change.

This position is a key part of the Platts Editorial leadership team and the broader succession plan. Candidates should have over 7 years of experience in oil/commodity markets price reporting, writing, editing, and team management, with deep expertise in oil markets, refined products, refining, trading, and hedging.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage publishing or pricing processes, establishing workflows and standards.
  • Prioritize content for publication and review quality standards.
  • Lead editorial team performance, coaching, and development.
  • Develop and evaluate editorial content based on market relevance and reader engagement.
  • Build relationships with industry sources and leverage market insights for content development.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 7+ years in oil/commodity markets reporting, writing, and editing.
  • Expertise in crude and refined products markets, with knowledge of refining, trading, and hedging.
  • Proven leadership managing teams of 4-5+ members.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, business, journalism, or sciences.
  • Excellent communication, listening, and writing skills, with fluency in English; additional languages are beneficial.
  • Strong numeracy, economic understanding, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis software.
