Associate Editorial Director, Crude & Fuel Oil, EMEA

Platts is seeking a highly skilled individual to join its Oil Markets Pricing leadership team as the Associate Editorial Director for Europe & Africa Oil. This role involves overseeing daily coverage and assessment of the EMEA Crude Oil and Fuel Oil markets, including major benchmarks like Dated Brent and High Sulfur Fuel Oil, among others.

The successful candidate will report to the Global Director, Crude and Fuel Oil, and manage a team of 9-13 editorial staff covering complex commodity markets across Europe & Africa. Responsibilities include strategic content development, daily editorial operations, and driving relevance in future bunker fuel markets amidst climate change challenges.

This position is a key part of the editorial leadership team and the broader succession plan. Candidates should have over 7 years of experience in oil/commodity markets price reporting, writing, editing, and team management. Deep expertise in oil markets, refined products, refining, trading, and hedging is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Managing publishing or pricing processes: Establish and lead workflows, prioritize content, review quality, and collaborate with production teams.
  2. Developing editorial staff: Manage scheduling, coaching, performance reviews, hiring, and talent development.
  3. Leading news, content, and price development: Evaluate content relevance, engage with subscribers, leverage industry sources, and identify news opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 7+ years in oil/commodity markets reporting, writing, editing.
  • Expertise across crude and refined products, with knowledge of refining, trading, and hedging.
  • Experience managing teams of 4-5+ staff, demonstrating strong leadership and influence.
  • Degree in finance, business, journalism, or sciences.
  • Exceptional communication, numeracy, and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of economics and risk management principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and data software.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are beneficial.
