Job summary

Aztrum is seeking an Associate to expand and manage its flood risk and drainage team in Birmingham, delivering expert advice on residential and commercial developments.

You will lead project work, mentor the team, and develop drainage strategies while liaising with clients and authorities to secure permits and drive opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Academic background in Hydrology, Environmental Engineering or Civil Engineering.
  • Chartered status is desirable or in progress.
  • Extensive experience in flood risk management and drainage design for developments.
  • Experience leading and mentoring a team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects and mentor the drainage team to deliver technical work.
  • Review flood risk assessments and develop drainage strategies.
  • Create surface water and foul drainage designs for developments.
  • Liaise with Local Authorities and Government Bodies to obtain permits.
  • Engage with clients to discuss progress and identify opportunities.

Overview

My Client, a market‑leading Engineering and Environmental Consultancy specializing in town planning, flood risk management and drainage infrastructure, is searching for an Associate to expand and manage their flood risk and drainage team in Birmingham.

Qualifications
  • Academic background in Hydrology, Environmental Engineering or Civil Engineering.
  • Achieved or close to achieving Chartered Status.
  • Extensive experience in flood risk management and drainage design for residential and commercial development projects.
  • Management experience to mentor and lead a team.
Responsibilities
  • Manage projects, liaise with clients to discuss project development and mentor/support the drainage team to complete technical work.
  • Review, amend, check and complete flood risk assessments.
  • Develop surface water drainage strategies.
  • Create foul sewerage and trade effluent drainage strategies to assess viability of constructing new sewers or private treatment systems.
  • Detailed storm and foul water drainage network design and modelling.
  • Detailed designs for residential and mixed‑use development projects for S278, S104 and S106.
  • Access road design.
  • Liaise with Local Authorities and Government Bodies to obtain environmental permits and drainage consents.
  • Client meetings to discuss project progress and develop new business opportunities with existing and new clients.
