Job Description:

The Associate Director of Sustainable Procurement is responsible for leading teams and programmes to help clients meet their social and environmental targets. This involves orienting clients’ procurement operations towards net zero and improved environmental and social outcomes across multiple projects.

The successful candidate will contribute to large-scale flagship projects, managing a team of specialist procurement and sustainability consultants. The employer encourages and supports candidates to achieve MCIPS status through CIPS, with ongoing professional development opportunities.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Manage sustainable procurement initiatives across various projects, aiding clients in achieving better environmental, social, and economic outcomes.
  • Lead project teams and contribute to global transformation programmes.
  • Provide guidance and management support to colleagues on client projects.
  • Identify and improve clients’ environmental performance to meet sustainability targets.
  • Develop sustainable procurement services and propositions.
  • Drive business development in sustainable procurement.
  • Contribute to team and business targets.
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Experience implementing sustainable procurement strategies and insights.
  • Procurement consulting experience from client, contractor, or professional services backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of ISO 20400 (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Experience developing client-facing propositions and thought leadership.
  • Understanding of ESG legislative and regulatory environments (desirable).
  • Experience engaging suppliers to embed sustainability.
  • Autonomous work ethic, with mentorship and team guidance skills.
  • Ability to manage work, business development, and career activities.
  • Adaptable approach to work.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements:
  • Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Sustainability, Business Management, or related fields.
  • Willingness to work towards or achieve Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply.
