Job summary

Elliott Wood Partnership is seeking an experienced Associate Director to lead the Structural Engineering team. The role combines technical leadership with commercial oversight, client relationship growth, and strategic direction to support ongoing success.

The position requires chartered status with MIStructE, five+ years post-chartership, and a proven track record in building structures, project profitability, and team development.

Qualifications

• Chartered status with MIStructE or an equivalent professional qualification and at least five years post-chartership experience.
• Ability to lead across multiple projects and deliver high-quality, profitable outcomes.
• Strong financial and commercial management including budgets, appointments and fees.
• Experience leading teams and supporting performance and development.
• Ability to develop client relationships and identify new business opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective leadership across project teams, overseeing delivery, quality, resources and profitability.
• Manage team performance, workload allocation, appraisals and career development.
• Oversee project appointments, fees, checks and troubleshooting to ensure high-quality design solutions.
• Monitor budgets, income, expenditure and project performance with senior leadership updates.
• Develop existing client relationships and identify new business opportunities with colleagues.
• Contribute to business strategy, practice management and continuous improvement.
• Mentor colleagues and support technical development and CPD across the practice.
