Job summary

Arup seeks an Associate Director to oversee Site Development across Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Belfast. You will lead a growing team, drive strategic direction and coordinate with multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver complex civil infrastructure projects.

You will provide hands-on leadership, build client relationships and champion sustainable, data-driven development approaches across the Northern Geography of Arup.

Qualifications

• A degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Chartered status (CEng or equivalent) is desirable.
• Significant experience in site development, infrastructure or related civil engineering disciplines.
• Proven experience leading teams, projects and client relationships at senior level.
• Strong understanding of development-led projects including masterplanning and mixed-use schemes.

Responsibilities

• Lead part of the Site Development team in the Northern Geography, setting a clear vision and developing senior leaders.
• Provide senior technical leadership on complex site development projects (feasibility, planning, design, construction support).
• Act as Site Development lead on major masterplanning and mixed-use schemes, ensuring integration with project objectives.
• Lead and manage client relationships with developers, investors, local authorities and contractors.
• Support and develop the Data Centre Site Development market within the team and region.
• Identify new opportunities and help shape future service offerings.
• Champion sustainable development, resilience and net zero outcomes in all site development work.
