Job summary

Turner & Townsend in Cambridge is seeking an Associate Director to lead delivery of complex real estate projects within our Real Estate Project Management Team. You will manage client interfaces and ensure projects meet time, cost and quality targets while contributing to strategic planning and governance.

The role requires a degree in a relevant discipline, 8 years’ experience in real estate project management, and willingness to travel within the UK and internationally.

Qualifications

  • Degree in construction, real estate or project management discipline.
  • Excellent communication skills, in person and written.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally as required.
  • Professional membership desirable (RICS, PMI, CIOB).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the delivery of complex real estate projects, ensuring client objectives are met and projects are delivered to time, cost and quality standards.
  • Act as the key, day to day client interface, ensuring client objectives are met and projects are delivered to time and cost targets and the appropriate quality standards.
  • Advise at a strategic level at the project conception stage to achieve client objectives.
  • Establish overall success criteria for the project (time, cost, technical and performance).
  • Plan for and manage ongoing quality, safety, health and environment issues.
  • Establish governance, processes and systems for the project.
  • Produce the detailed project plan and monitor performance with KPIs.
  • Manage change control and project finances; produce progress reports.
  • Lead marketing and business development activities such as developing opportunities, cross-selling, and bids.

Job Description

We are seeking an Associate Director to join our Real Estate Project Management Team in Cambridge. You will be part of a dynamic and diverse team, working across sectors on a wide variety of projects on a rotational basis. Associate Directors handle commissions of varying scale, value and complexity; from local community led initiatives to transnational projects with global resonance.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the delivery of complex real estate projects, ensuring that client objectives are met and that projects are delivered to time, cost and quality standards
  • Act as the key, day to day client interface, ensuring that client objectives are met and that projects are delivered to time and cost targets and the appropriate quality standards
  • Advise at a strategic level at the project conception stage, including providing advice on the different approaches that can be adopted in order to successfully achieve the client’s overall objectives
  • Establish the overall success criteria for the project, including time, cost, technical and performance parameters
  • Plan for and manage the ongoing quality, safety, health and environment issues
  • Establish effective project governance, processes and systems to be utilised throughout project
  • Project plan, including ensuring the production of the detailed project plan
  • Monitor and apply performance management techniques, including the use of KPI’s to improve project performance
  • Manage the change control process
  • Monitor and advise upon project finances
  • Ensure the production of formal project progress and other reports
  • Lead the marketing and business development activities, such as:
    • Developing new business opportunities with existing and new Turner & Townsend clients
    • Identifying and acting upon cross-selling opportunities
    • Working with Associate Directors and Directors to construct bids for new work
    • Attending formal client pitches with Assistant Directors and Directors
    • Identifying and acting upon opportunities to improve project management products and services
Qualifications
  • Degree qualified in relevant construction, real estate or project management discipline
  • 8 years’ experience managing Real Estate projects, ideally in a consultancy environment
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally as required
  • Excellent communication skills, in person and written
  • Professional membership desirable, such as RICS, PMI, or CIOB
