Job summary

Matchtech is recruiting an Associate Director Mechanical Engineering for the Water Sector in Manchester. The role leads technical design teams, defines briefs for bids, and ensures projects meet milestones and budgets while delivering integrated UK design solutions.

The position requires Chartered or Fellow status, a relevant engineering degree, and substantial water-sector experience, with deep knowledge of pumps, blowers, screens and dosing plants.

Qualifications

• Chartered or Fellow Mechanical Engineer qualification or equivalent required.
• Relevant Engineering degree or equivalent.
• Significant experience in Mechanical Engineering within the Water Sector.
• Experience owning design delivery, including multidisciplinary design.
• Knowledge of mechanical equipment (pumps, blowers, screens, chemical dosing) and UK design standards.

Responsibilities

• Own and direct teams undertaking technical design work to high-quality levels and standards.
• Define briefs, scopes of work, and input into bid proposals.
• Manage time and budgets to key project milestones and programmes.
• Collaborate with teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.
• Set quality assurance standards in design.
• Grow and develop mechanical engineering capability within the practice.

Your Purpose
