Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer for a client in the water sector. You will lead mechanical design on transformational programmes for critical UK infrastructure, with opportunities to work on iconic projects at home and abroad.

You will manage a team, prepare briefs and scopes, and ensure delivery to milestones within budgets, while maintaining high quality standards and QA compliance. Collaboration with UK and overseas teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Chartered Mechanical Engineer with professional registration.
• Experience leading design delivery in the Water Sector.
• Knowledge of mechanical equipment (pumps, blowers, screens, dosing plants).
• Strong understanding of CDM and ATEX regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team to undertake technical design work following relevant design standards and codes, and to high-quality levels.
• Prepare briefs, scopes of work, and input into bid proposals.
• Successfully manage time and budgets to key project milestones and programmes.
• Work closely with teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.

• Thorough knowledge in mechanical equipment, such as pumps, blowers, screens and chemical dosing plant as well as an in-depth understanding of current UK design standards and working practices.
• Strong understanding of legislation such as CDM and ATEX.
