Job summary

Maxim Recruitment is seeking an experienced Associate Director Planning for Birmingham to lead planning and project controls on major infrastructure commissions. You will drive programme leadership, schedule management and client engagement across rail, highways, energy and water sectors.

The role focuses on robust baselines, risk integration, Earned Value reporting and team development, with hybrid/flexible working options offered.

Qualifications

• Significant planning and project controls experience on major infrastructure or construction programmes.
• Strong planning experience in rail, highways, transport, energy, water or similar sectors.
• Experience leading planning teams on major projects.
• Understanding of Earned Value Management and project controls methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning function across complex multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
• Develop, maintain and manage robust project programme baselines.
• Manage and develop planning and project controls professionals.
• Undertake critical path analysis and scenario planning to identify and mitigate programme risks.
• Ensure project schedules comply with contractual requirements, including NEC contracts.
• Integrate programme, cost and risk information to support effective project decision-making.
• Deliver programme reporting, including Earned Value Management reporting.
• Lead planning workshops, programme reviews and client meetings.
• Review and assure contractor programmes and schedule submissions.
• Apply delay analysis techniques to understand programme performance.
