Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Associate Director Overhead Lines (OHL) to lead design delivery on high-profile Power & Energy projects across the UK and Continental Europe. You will drive 132kV-400kV OHL design, coordinate with National Grid and DNO standards, and mentor a team of design engineers to ensure safe, compliant outcomes.

You will oversee line routing, sag-tension, structure analysis and collaboration with clients in workshops, while guiding proposals, budgets and timelines.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in overhead line design (132kV-400kV) within UK transmission environments.
• Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil or Electrical) or equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer status or working toward chartership.
• Familiarity with National Grid and DNO standards and processes.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed engineering drawings and design documentation using PLS-CADD, AutoCAD and Microstation.
• Lead technical activities, line routing, sag-tension calculations and structure analysis.
• Prepare proposals and reports detailing scope, timelines and budgets.
• Engage in client-facing design reviews and technical workshops.
• Mentor a team of specialist design engineers on overhead transmission line solutions.
• Identify and manage project risks to ensure successful delivery.
• Promote a strong safety culture and maintain relationships with internal teams and clients.
