Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Estates & Facilities team to lead our Estates maintenance service as our Associate Director (Head of Estates) at Whipps Cross Hospital. Whipps Cross Hospital is part of the Barts Health Group, major providers of acute healthcare in North East London. Working in healthcare requires an adaptable approach and hence, in addition to excellent Estates management knowledge, you will be able to communicate effectively, be self-motivated, and have the competence to prioritize effectively. You should also have a passion to deliver high-quality estates services that prioritize the patient, public, and hospital staff.
There are well-advanced plans to build a new Whipps Cross Hospital as part of the NHS New Hospitals Programme (NHP), which aims to deliver a state-of-the-art, net-zero carbon hospital expected to open in the next decade. As the Head of Estates, you will be involved in delivering this scheme and ensuring the Estates team is equipped to manage the transition while maintaining safe, high-quality services for the existing healthcare estate.
Over the past five years, over £40m has been invested in capital schemes across Whipps Cross Hospital to address backlog maintenance issues and improve the environment.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Hospital Director of Estates & Facilities, the postholder will provide technical operational leadership and strategic direction for engineering, infrastructure (including fire), and building activities on the hospital site. You will support the delivery of strategic objectives, coordinate capital, project, and backlog programs, and ensure compliance with technical standards and safety regulations, supported by a robust structure of authorized and certified personnel.
