Job description

The Keegans Group is seeking an Associate Director Fire Engineer within the Compliance and Safety Team. The role involves providing fire safety support, advice, and assisting in delivering appropriate fire safety solutions.

This full-time, permanent position is ideally based in London, but applications from nationwide are welcome.

Responsibilities:

• Participating in project meetings and workshops, offering fire safety guidance and recommendations.
• Reviewing design documents such as drawings, reports, and specifications; providing fire safety comments and technical reports.
• Researching fire safety implications of new technologies, materials, and regulations; supporting the application of research findings.
• Conducting risk assessments and presenting findings to stakeholders for informed decision-making.
• Building and maintaining a trusted internal network across the organization.
• Generating fire safety strategy reports for various projects.
• Reviewing external walls in accordance with PAS 9980 guidance.
• Updating and maintaining internal best practice guidance and documentation; developing proposals for design or research services.
• Preparing technical guidance notes on fire safety; presenting at knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Managing project records and financials using Deltek; preparing invoices.
• Ensuring contractual agreements are in place with clients and subconsultants.
• Managing and developing a team of Senior and Fire Engineers, including conducting reviews and appraisals.
• Leading weekly team meetings, resource planning, and recruitment needs.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree or Master’s in construction or engineering fields such as Surveying, Fire Safety Engineering, etc.
• Professional membership with RICS, CABE, or IFE/IFSM.
• Extensive experience in fire engineering or related fields, with desirable experience in façade fire engineering.
• Proficiency with BIM, AutoCAD, or similar tools for design and review.
• Experience with CFD modeling, probabilistic/reliability analysis, and tools like FDS.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks including Building Regulations, Fire Safety Act, Building Safety Act, BS 9991, and 9999.
• Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
• Supportive role to the Director of Safety and Compliance as needed.
• Aiming for Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with the Engineering Council and IFE.
