Job description

Associate Director, Finance Business Partnering

Department: Finance

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: GBR Manchester Hardman Boulevard

Description

The Associate Director, Finance Business Partner is the principal strategic finance adviser to the Chief Commercial Officer and CCO leadership team. The role shapes the three-year commercial and financial vision, converts enterprise growth priorities into executable plans, and influences the allocation of resources and investment across markets, channels and commercial capabilities.

Operating beyond a single-market remit, the role owns the global commercial finance agenda across Sales, integrates market plans into a coherent enterprise view, and provides independent challenge on revenue growth, margin, customer economics, pricing, productivity and return on investment.

The role leads a team of four direct reports and sets the direction, standards and operating model for CCO finance partnering.

As a trusted C-suite partner, the role shapes senior executive decisions through clear recommendations, scenario analysis and constructive challenge. It represents Finance in strategic commercial forums and ensures that growth choices are financially sustainable, risk-aware and aligned to NCC Group's long-term value creation priorities.

Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Strategy and Three-Year Vision:
  • Support the markets to translate corporate strategy into an integrated global commercial plan across markets and channels.
  • Co-create the CCO organisation's three-year commercial and financial strategy, defining the value drivers, investment choices, performance outcomes and strategic milestones required to deliver sustainable growth.
C-Suite and Executive Influence:
  • Act as the principal finance adviser to the CCO and a trusted partner to the CCO leadership team, bringing independent judgement, commercial challenge and clear recommendations.
  • Shape executive and Board-level narratives on commercial performance, outlook, strategic trade-offs and investment decisions.
  • Influence cross-functional priorities with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Product and Group Finance, resolving competing objectives and aligning leaders behind enterprise outcomes.
Global Planning, Performance and Resource Allocation:
  • Own the global CCO budget, quarterly forecasts and three-year plan, integrating market and functional plans into a single, decision-useful view.
  • Direct resource and investment allocation across markets and commercial capabilities, using scenarios and sensitivities to optimise enterprise value.
Strategic Commercial Decisions:
  • Lead finance support for high-value and strategically significant decisions, including pricing architecture, major deals, channel strategy, customer economics, partnerships and market entry or expansion.
  • Sponsor robust investment appraisal and post-investment review, ensuring that commercial initiatives have clear strategic rationale, accountable owners and measurable returns.
Transformation, Governance and Organisational Effectiveness:
  • Uphold global standards for financial governance, forecasting accuracy, data integrity and commercial decision support.
  • Build financial capability across the commercial leadership community and embed a culture of accountability, transparency and value-led decision making.
Leadership of the CCO Finance Partnering Team:
  • Lead, coach and develop four direct reports, setting clear accountabilities, succession plans and performance expectations.
  • Provide visible leadership across Commercial Finance, role-modelling enterprise thinking, constructive challenge and collaboration across geographies and functions.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Significant senior commercial finance leadership experience in a complex, international and matrixed organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering C-suite leaders and influencing enterprise-level strategy, investment and performance decisions.
  • Proven ownership of multi-year strategic planning, global or multi-market planning, executive performance management and resource allocation.
  • Strong commercial judgement across revenue growth, pricing, margin, customer economics, sales productivity, major deals and investment appraisal.
  • Track record of leading and developing high-performing finance teams, including through change and across geographies or time zones.
  • Ability to convert complex analysis into clear executive recommendations and to challenge credibly in high-stakes forums.
  • Strong command of scenario modelling, value-driver analysis, NPV, IRR and DCF, supported by advanced use of planning, BI, CRM and ERP platforms.
