We are recruiting experienced Environmental Consultants to join as an Associate EIA Director. Our Environment & Sustainability business has over 650 staff working across the UK and Ireland. As we are a national team, we are flexible in terms of location, including offices in Basingstoke, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Chesterfield, Croydon, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, London Aldgate, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Plymouth, St Albans, Warrington.

We welcome interest from candidates seeking either part-time or full-time roles.

As an Associate EIA Director, you'll lead and manage multidisciplinary environmental inputs to large-scale development projects that are transforming infrastructure and helping the UK achieve its net zero targets. This includes projects in energy generation (carbon capture, hydrogen, renewables), energy distribution, rail, highways, regeneration, and various sectors like ecommerce, minerals, water, defense, aviation, commercial, residential, and industrial sectors.

You will work across multiple consenting regimes (DCO, TCPA, TWA, hybrid Bill, etc.) and collaborate daily with technical experts within our Environmental Impact team. Our team is a founding member of the IEMA EIA Quality Mark, aligning with our ESG strategy.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Lead: Managing multidisciplinary environmental inputs, preparing EIA screening letters, Scoping Reports, Environmental Statements, reviewing specialist chapters, managing resources, and project budgets.
  2. Collaborate: Working with design teams to identify environmental constraints, develop solutions, and deliver benefits, in partnership with internal teams.
  3. Create: Developing business opportunities, fee proposals, and technical bids.
  4. Inspire: Supporting staff development and mentoring.
  5. Champion: Promoting AECOM's environmental services internally and externally.

Qualifications

What we're looking for:

  1. Proven experience managing EIA projects, environmental assessment methods, and planning legislation.
  2. Ability to work collaboratively within teams, coordinating technical inputs.
  3. Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
  4. Excellent report writing and technical review skills.
  5. Project management experience, including resource and budget management.
  6. Degree in a relevant environmental discipline (Masters preferred) and professional membership.
  7. Willingness to travel occasionally.
  8. Chartered Environmentalist status.
  9. Interest in line management and mentoring.
  10. Experience with DCO and/or TWAO regimes.
