Join us at Barclays as an Associate Director - Energy Transition & Commodities in the International Corporate Bank Financial Energy Transition & Commodities team. You will support the Relationship Director in managing banking requirements across the Middle East, APAC, and Africa. This role offers an opportunity to support existing relationships, manage some accounts, and contribute to the sector's success.

To be successful as an Associate Director, you should have experience with:

  • Corporate Banking products (cash management, wholesale lending, trade finance, FX, risk management, debt capital markets)
  • Corporate coverage relationship management (experience with energy, power, oil, and gas is preferred but not essential)
  • Understanding of Investment Banking product offerings and their relevance to client needs

Additional valued skills include:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Financial analysis and interpretation skills
  • Knowledge of sectors in the Middle East, APAC, and Africa is beneficial

The role involves assessing risks, managing change, strategic thinking, and leveraging digital and technological skills. It is based in London.

Purpose of the role

To establish profitable partnerships with corporate and individual clients, aligning bank offerings with client needs for mutual and long-term success.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Managing client relationships to understand financial goals and challenges, analyzing data for insights and service opportunities
  2. Researching industry trends, regulations, and competition to inform strategies
  3. Designing tailored solutions using bank products and services
  4. Communicating value propositions, negotiating terms, and supporting client financial decisions
  5. Assessing and mitigating risks, ensuring compliance and documentation
  6. Monitoring client satisfaction and revenue metrics
  7. Contributing to policy development, operational effectiveness, and collaborating across functions
  8. Leading or guiding teams, setting objectives, coaching, and performance appraisal
  9. Demonstrating leadership behaviors aligned with Barclays values and mindset
  10. Engaging in complex data analysis, influencing stakeholders, and communicating complex information effectively
