Qualifications

Job title: Associate Director - Design Manager

Contract type: Permanent

Our UK operations deliver iconic projects across transport and energy sectors, providing consultancy, engineering, and operational services. We have extensive experience in rail and transportation projects worldwide.

Job description

Core responsibilities:

  • Establish Egis UK Engineering Design Centre (EDC) strategy and team management structure for Transportation.
  • Manage personnel including engineers, BIM managers, coordinators, and specialists for engineering design deliverables.
  • Lead the design team, ensuring interdisciplinary coordination and compliance with standards.
  • Review design documentation for quality and standards adherence.
  • Implement and evaluate rail industry standards and ensure consistency across projects.
  • Coordinate activities of the design team, liaise with clients, and represent teams in meetings.
  • Oversee quality aspects of subsystem deliverables per project quality plans.
  • Maintain and develop team competencies, including training and mentoring.
  • Support implementation of safety, V&V, and system assurance processes.

BIM Management & Development

  • Define Egis BIM/Digital Strategy and ISO accreditation plans.
  • Develop BIM implementation plans to reach Level 2 and ISO standards.
  • Ensure BIM processes, protocols, and data management meet project requirements.
  • Produce BIM Execution Plans and digital strategies.
  • Manage collaboration workflows, model coordination, and data quality.

Profile

Qualifications, Skills, Experience & Attributes

Essential:

  • At least 5 years' experience as a Design Manager/BIM Manager in major infrastructure projects.
  • Proven ability to manage design interfaces and digital strategies.
  • Experience in engineering production environments with a railway, transportation, or construction background.
  • Knowledge of UK standards like Network Rail, HS2, TfL.
  • Experience with BIM Level 2 and ISO certifications.

Desirable:

  • BSc or similar in engineering or scientific discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status.
  • Knowledge of rail engineering regulations and scripting skills.
