Job summary

Mace is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Lead in Birmingham to steer electrical design delivery on complex projects. You will lead technical direction, review deliverables, and drive best practices across the MEP design team within a collaborative, safety-focused environment.

The role requires a degree in electrical engineering and extensive experience across power, lighting, life safety and low-voltage systems, with strong coordination and audit oversight.

Qualifications

• Degree required in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Typically 15+ years delivering electrical design on complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and advice on electrical design matters.
• Review and assure electrical design deliverables, standards and compliance.
• Develop and implement electrical design processes and best practices.
• Line management and development of MEP Design team members.
• Oversee internal and external audits, certification and compliance activities.
• Direct design reviews, lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identify, manage and mitigate technical risks and design quality issues.
• Support audits, certification activities and compliance reviews.
• Deliver technical training, mentoring and knowledge sharing.
• Support multidisciplinary coordination and technical workshops.
• Support bids and technical proposals.
• Monitor performance of design partners and supply chain members.
• Support commissioning, testing and handover activities.
• Contribute to net zero carbon objectives through efficient and sustainable electrical design solutions.

You’ll Need To Have

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
• Typically 15+ years' experience delivering electrical design on complex projects, with strong knowledge of power, lighting, life safety and low-voltage systems, together with experience in technical assurance, design reviews and multidisciplinary coordination.
