CIBSE Journal is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a respected MEP building services consultancy. You will lead electrical design on diverse projects, manage client relationships and mentor junior engineers, with a clear path toward Associate level for the right candidate.

Work alongside architects, developers and contractors from concept through to completion, ensuring high standards and regulatory compliance across healthcare, education, commercial and residential sectors.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience 6-8+ years in electrical building services design in a consultancy.
• Strong knowledge of LV power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarms.
• Proven ability to deliver projects across healthcare, education, commercial and residential sectors.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and managing budgets/programmes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design and delivery of multiple building services projects from concept to completion.
• Manage project programmes, budgets and resource allocation.
• Produce and review electrical design calculations, specifications and reports.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Senior Electrical Engineer to strengthen their electrical design team. This role offers the opportunity to lead the electrical design on a wide range of projects, manage client relationships, mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continued success of the business. There is also a genuine opportunity to progress into Associate level for the right individual.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design and delivery of multiple building services projects from concept through to completion.
• Manage project programmes, budgets and resource allocation to ensure successful delivery.
• Produce and review detailed electrical design calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation.
• Attend client, design team and site meetings, acting as the lead electrical engineer where required.
• Coordinate with mechanical engineers, architects, structural engineers and external consultants throughout the design process.
• Undertake site inspections, witness commissioning activities and provide technical support during construction.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships, identifying opportunities for repeat business.
• Mentor and support intermediate and junior engineers, providing technical guidance and encouraging professional development.
• Ensure all work is delivered in accordance with current regulations, industry standards and company quality procedures.

Requirements

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 6-8 years' experience in electrical building services design within a consultancy environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of low voltage power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarms and associated building services systems.
• Proven experience delivering projects across sectors such as healthcare, education, commercial and residential.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high technical standards.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
• Commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets and programme delivery.
• Experience mentoring or supervising junior engineers.
• Working knowledge of industry design software such as AutoCAD, Revit and electrical design packages.
• Progress towards Chartered Engineer status, or already Chartered, would be advantageous.
