Job summary

CBRE in the UK is seeking a RICS qualified Building Surveyor to join the Building Consultancy team. You will deliver professional building consultancy work for investor and occupier clients, from single assets to large portfolios across the UK and EMEA.

Responsibilities include lead consultancy, contract administration, dilapidations, due diligence, refurbishment and maintenance advice, with a focus on value-added client solutions and collaborating across multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • MRICS qualified (Building Surveying pathway) with post‑qualification experience.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK and across EMEA as required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead professional building consultancy advice on contract administration and dilapidations.
  • Manage client and project teams to deliver instructions.
  • Collaborate across CBRE to grow relationships and opportunities.
  • Lead consultancy and contract administration roles on projects.
  • Prepare dilapidations schedules and negotiate landlord/tenant claims.
  • Provide defect analysis and commercial advice to clients.
  • Identify value-add opportunities and deliver client solutions.
  • Contribute to the team and department business plan.
  • Assemble teams with appropriate experience and skills.
  • Comply with CBRE policies and quality management systems.

Job description

This opportunity provides a role for a RICS qualified surveying position within our Building Consultancy team undertaking a wide range of commercially focused, professional building consultancy work for a variety of investor and corporate occupier clients within the UK and across EMEA ranging from single assets to large portfolios and platform deals.

Practice areas that are expected of the candidate include lead consultancy and contract administration, dilapidations for both landlord and tenants, technical due diligence for investment and occupier purposes, refurbishment works and maintenance advice (PPMs).

Key Responsibilities
  • To assist and take the lead role in the successful implementation and delivery of professional building consultancy advice to a range of clients in relation to contract administration and dilapidations instructions as well as other general building surveying advice.
  • Take responsibility for the management of client and project teams to deliver building surveying instructions successfully.
  • Work closely with other CBRE colleagues and departments to grow relationships and business opportunities.
  • Projects to include but not restricted to:
  • Lead Consultancy and Contract Administration role(s);
  • Preparation of Schedules of Dilapidations and negotiating claims on behalf of either landlord or tenant; Preparation of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules; Building surveys for investment of occupational purposes.
  • Defect analysis and providing commercial advice to clients.
  • Looks for opportunities to bring and build value, delivering client solutions which exceed expectations.
  • To positively contribute to the team and department business plan and to assist in achieving its objectives.
  • Ability to build teams appropriate to the delivery of client advice, with the correct mix of experience, skills and commerciality.
  • Comply with CBRE’s polices and management systems.
  • Work in compliance with Quality Management procedures.
Essential Qualifications
  • MRICS qualified (preferably Building Surveying pathway) with at least 1-2 years of relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK and across EMEA as required.
