Job summary

Birmingham City University is seeking an Associate Director of Apprenticeship Development to lead growth of the University’s apprenticeship provision, working with academic Schools and Professional Services to support strategic ambitions. You will drive growth in apprenticeship student numbers and income, developing strategic employer partnerships and aligning provision with regional workforce needs.

• Ability to build and maintain strategic employer partnerships
• Strong leadership of a multi-disciplinary team
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation skills
• Understanding of workforce planning and regional skills needs

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver a University-wide strategy for apprenticeship growth, increasing student recruitment, revenue and employer engagement across academic disciplines.
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with public and private sector employers, identifying business opportunities and supporting employers to use apprenticeship levy funding.
• Lead and develop the Business Development team, setting targets, monitoring performance and delivering recruitment, income and growth objectives.
• Collaborate with academic Schools and Professional Services to develop employer-responsive curricula, recruitment plans and learner pathways.
• Use workforce intelligence and skills gap analysis to inform apprenticeship provision development.
• Ensure new programmes meet compliance and quality standards, including End‑Point Assessment outcomes.
• Report on apprenticeship performance, income and impact to senior leaders and committees.
