Job summary

Anaplan in Manchester is seeking a backend engineer to build and maintain core services powering the Syrup platform and forecasting capabilities. You will write Python, work with data pipelines, and collaborate with data scientists and platform partners.

You will join a team that emphasizes code quality, on-call reliability, and end-to-end feature delivery, reporting to the Director of Engineering for Predictive Intelligence.

Qualifications

• Commercial software engineering experience building backend services.
• Proficiency in Python with well-structured, tested production code.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and data warehousing concepts.
• Experience with containerized services and major cloud providers.
• Understanding of ML/AI systems in production and data pipelines.
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative development practices.
• Ability to own well-scoped systems and deliver with ambiguity.
• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and data processing components.
• Contribute to forecasting, scoring, and data processing services.
• Write clean, tested Python and follow engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with data scientists and ML engineers to deploy models.
• Participate in code reviews and design discussions to grow as an engineer.
• Take part in on-call rotations and help diagnose issues across services.
• Collaborate with the team to deliver features end to end.
