Job description

Location: Exeter
Salary: £55,000 – £75,000 per annum DoE

The Role

An established consultancy is seeking an experienced Associate/Associate Director Structural Engineer to head up their structures team in their Exeter branch. The role will involve delivering innovative design solutions across a range of sectors, including residential, commercial, mixed-use, and industrial projects. You will lead and manage complex structural designs, ensuring technical excellence and sustainable outcomes from concept to construction. You will also play a key role in the growth and shaping of the structures team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead structural design projects across diverse sectors.
  • Develop and review detailed design documentation, calculations, and specifications.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design efforts to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with design standards and industry best practices.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and risk assessments.
  • Mentor and supervise junior engineers, fostering professional growth.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives and client relationship management.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified or equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years’ post-qualification experience in engineering.
  • Experience working on residential projects, alongside commercial, mixed-use, or industrial schemes.
  • Chartered (or working towards chartership) with a recognised professional institution (e.g., ICE, IStructE).
  • Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) and structural analysis tools.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
