Job summary

Tempest Jones in Leeds is recruiting an Associate or Associate Director Electrical Engineer to lead complex building services projects. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, own client relationships and help shape growth of the Leeds office while mentoring engineers.

Based from modern Leeds offices with hybrid working, you will influence project delivery from inception to completion across commercial, education, healthcare, rail and public sectors, and contribute to strategic leadership.

About the Business

Tempest Jones are partnering with an award-winning multidisciplinary property and construction consultancy to appoint an Associate or Associate Director level Electrical Engineer into its growing Leeds Building Services team.

This isn't a replacement hire. It's a strategic appointment within a business that's investing heavily in the continued growth of its Leeds office and building a leadership team capable of supporting the next phase of expansion.

Already home to around 70 professionals across multiple disciplines, the Leeds office continues to go from strength to strength. Building Services has become one of its standout success stories, generating almost £1 million in annual turnover with a team of just seven engineers.

Now, with ambitious plans to grow the team to around 20 engineers by the end of 2028, the business is looking for experienced engineers who want more than simply delivering projects. They're looking for people who want to influence clients, mentor future leaders and help shape the direction of a growing regional business.

Based from impressive new offices in Leeds, you'll enjoy working within a genuinely collaborative multidisciplinary environment, delivering projects across commercial, education, healthcare, defence, rail and wider public sector markets.

The Opportunity

The Leeds Building Services team has built an exceptional reputation for delivering technically excellent engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects.

What they're looking for now is another leader. Someone who enjoys building long-term client relationships. Someone who can take ownership of complex projects from inception through to completion Someone who wants to help grow both a team and a business.

You’ll become one of the senior figures within the Leeds office, leading multidisciplinary project teams, strengthening client relationships and helping create opportunities for future growth.

Current projects include:

• Community Diagnostic Centres and wider NHS estate programmes
• Commercial office developments, including Lloyds Banking Group's new regional headquarters
• Primary, Secondary and SEND schools
• University teaching space refurbishments
• Network Rail training facilities
• New regional headquarters for national clients

With the wider multidisciplinary business continuing to grow across Yorkshire and the North, the pipeline of future opportunities is equally exciting.

The Role

As Associate / Associate Director, you will:

• Lead the delivery of complex electrical building services projects from concept through to completion.
• Act as Project Leader across multidisciplinary design teams.
• Build trusted relationships with clients and become a key point of contact throughout project delivery.
• Support business development activities and identify opportunities for repeat and new business.
• Mentor and develop engineers as the Leeds Building Services team continues to expand.
• Ensure projects are delivered to the highest technical and commercial standards.
• Play an active role in shaping the future growth of the Leeds Building Services team.

The Candidate

We're keen to speak with established Associate Engineers, Associate Directors or ambitious Principal Engineers who are ready to step into a broader leadership role.

You’ll ideally have:

• Strong project leadership and client-facing experience.
• The confidence to develop long-term client relationships and represent the business externally.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams.
• Commercial awareness and an interest in supporting business growth.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Chartered Engineer status, or working towards it, would be advantageous.
