Bennett and Game Recruitment is seeking an Associate Architect for their London office (Aldgate). The role leads architectural projects across education, residential, healthcare and more, working with the Architectural Director.

You’ll mentor staff, contribute to bids and help steer the London team’s growth while maintaining design excellence. The position offers a clear path to leadership, a senior level workload, and hybrid working with substantial client liaison and project management

Qualifications

• ARB / RIBA qualified architect with UK-registry status.
• 5+ years post-Part III experience.
• Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and planning processes.
• Revit proficiency and ability to develop drawings from scratch.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural projects from inception to completion.
• Develop client briefs, feasibility studies and initial design proposals.
• Produce high-quality concepts, drawings and technical information.

Job description

Looking for your next step beyond project delivery? This could be an opportunity to take a genuine leadership role within an established London (Aldgate) architectural team. An Associate Architect is required to join a well-established, multi-disciplinary property and construction consultancy at their London office. Our client has a long-standing reputation for delivering practical, sustainable and high-quality design solutions across the built environment, with projects spanning education, residential, social housing, healthcare, commercial and defence. The role would suit an experienced Senior Architect who is ready to take on greater responsibility, without stepping too far away from the projects themselves. Working alongside the existing Architectural Director, you will have the opportunity to lead projects, develop client relationships and contribute to the direction of the London architectural team, with a clear pathway towards future team leadership and succession. The practice delivers projects ranging from approximately £500,000 to £50 million, providing a varied workload and the opportunity to take ownership from early-stage feasibility through to completion. Alongside project delivery, you will gradually take greater responsibility for team mentoring, resource planning, business development, fee generation and work winning. This is a particularly good opportunity for an established Senior or Associate Architect who wants more influence, autonomy and commercial responsibility, with the backing of an established multidisciplinary consultancy.

Associate Architect Overview

• Lead architectural projects from inception through to completion
• Take ownership of projects across education, residential, social housing, healthcare, commercial and defence
• Develop client briefs, feasibility studies and initial design proposals
• Produce high-quality design concepts, working drawings and technical information
• Prepare and coordinate planning, Building Regulations and Listed Building applications
• Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors and relevant authorities
• Act as Project Manager on selected projects, attending pre-start, site and project meetings
• Assist with bids, fee proposals, tenders and work-winning opportunities
• Undertake tender analysis and value engineering exercises
• Build and maintain long-term client relationships
• Mentor and support junior members of the architectural team
• Work alongside the Architectural Director on the continued development of the London team
• Progressively take responsibility for resource planning and team management
• Contribute to business development, networking and generation of new work
• Support fee generation, forecasting and pipeline development
• Help improve project profitability through effective management of time and resources
• Use Revit to develop projects and produce technical information

Associate Architect Requirements

• ARB / RIBA Qualified Architect
• 5+ years post-Part III experience
• Strong experience across a range of RIBA Stages
• Thorough knowledge of Building Regulations
• Strong working knowledge of Revit, including the ability to start drawings from scratch
• Knowledge of NBS specifications
• Experience within education, residential and/or social housing projects, highly advantageous
• Healthcare experience, including knowledge of HBNs and HTMs, would be advantageous
• Experience preparing fee proposals and managing project finances
• Experience preparing planning, Building Regulations and Listed Building applications
• Strong client-facing and communication skills
• Commercial awareness and an interest in business development and work winning
• Experience of networking and developing client relationships
• Good hand-sketching skills and experience of housing masterplanning would be advantageous
• Ability to lead projects while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment
• Active UK SC Clearance or the ability to obtain UK SC Clearance
