Private Equity Associate (4–6 PQE) – Global Law Firm | London

This prestigious international firm has carved out a leading reputation in the private equity space, combining deep transactional insight with a bold, forward-thinking culture. Recognised for its commercial acumen, cross-border capabilities, and dedication to innovation, it remains a trusted adviser to many of the world’s most active private equity sponsors and management teams.

With a collaborative ethos and a commitment to sustainability, inclusion and professional excellence, this is a platform built for the future — offering high-calibre lawyers the chance to shape their careers at the top of the market.

Role and Experience Level

This role is ideal for a Private Equity Associate with between 4–6 years’ PQE. Candidates must demonstrate strong experience advising on private equity transactions (including leveraged buyouts, bolt-ons, management equity plans, and exits) within a top-tier UK, US or international practice.

You’ll join a high-performing, well-integrated team acting on some of the most high-profile deals in the market — often with an international dimension. You will be given real responsibility from the outset, while also benefiting from tailored support to advance your career towards senior positions.

Team and Culture

The Private Equity team is consistently ranked by Chambers and Legal 500 for the quality of its work and the calibre of its people. Lawyers work in an agile, integrated way across offices, drawing on regional and sector expertise to deliver exceptional results.

What sets this team apart is its emphasis on collaboration, knowledge-sharing and mentorship. You’ll work alongside partners who take the time to invest in their people, offering exposure to top clients and encouraging your development both technically and commercially.

Key Responsibilities

You will play a key role in the execution and management of complex private equity transactions, including:

  • Leading on drafting, negotiating and managing key transaction documents (SPAs, shareholders’ agreements, investment documentation)
  • Advising on deal structuring, equity arrangements and corporate governance matters
  • Overseeing legal due diligence and project managing across teams and jurisdictions
  • Mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to knowledge development within the team
  • Taking a lead on client communications, helping build and maintain long-term relationships
  • Supporting partners with business development, pitches and thought leadership initiatives

Impact of the Role

This role offers the opportunity to help shape strategy on sophisticated, high-value transactions with household-name clients. As a trusted senior member of the team, you’ll have a direct hand in driving success — not only in terms of deal outcomes but also through mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to the wider growth of the practice.

Working Options

The firm champions flexible and hybrid working. Most associates split their time between the office and home (typically 2–3 days per week onsite), with technology and support systems designed to enable seamless collaboration from anywhere.

Location

The role is based in the firm’s City of London office — a modern, well-connected workspace with excellent facilities, close to key transport links.

Salary and Benefits

  • Highly competitive salary: DOE
  • Full suite of benefits including enhanced pension, private medical, income protection and life assurance
  • Generous annual leave plus wellbeing days
  • Career coaching, leadership development and international secondment opportunities
  • Strong commitment to work-life balance and long-term career planning

CSR and Community Involvement

This firm leads from the front in terms of ESG and pro bono work. From advising on sustainability-linked investments to delivering meaningful community projects, there is a strong sense of purpose woven into the firm’s DNA. Lawyers are encouraged to participate in CSR initiatives and pro bono work is recognised and rewarded.

The team is looking to meet high-calibre candidates over the next few weeks. If you’re a mid-to-senior Private Equity lawyer considering your next move — and want to be part of a team that is shaping the market while offering a supportive, people-centred environment — we’d love to hear from you.
