Job Summary:

Reporting directly to the Global Head of Risk Management, you will work with a global team of highly skilled in-house Risk Engineers. Your role involves conducting detailed risk surveys in the field and via desktop reviews. Responsibilities include making risk quality assessments, calculating Loss Estimations (in line with guidelines), recommending risk improvements, advising underwriters on technical matters, and more.

Your time will be divided between performing on-site surveys and desktop reviews, assessing risks based on available information, documenting findings, making recommendations to underwriting colleagues, and advising customers directly.

Job Duties:
  1. Perform Surveys and Desktop Reviews for designated risks:
  • Complete survey programs by conducting on-site surveys.
  • Develop recommendations to improve client risk profiles and reduce loss frequency/severity.
  • Consult with clients to facilitate risk improvements.
  • Provide quality, timely, and accurate reports.
  • Conduct desktop reviews to assess risk management standards for prospects and other cases.
  • Perform desktop risk profiling tasks as required.
  • Support the underwriting framework:
    • Partner with underwriters to develop and maintain risk selection filters.
    • Enhance understanding of inherent risks.
    • Conduct training workshops for the underwriting team.
  • Support business development opportunities:
    • Promote Allied World’s risk engineering capabilities.
    • Engage risk engineering services in proposition development.
  • Communication & Relationships:
    • Represent AW to clients and brokers during surveys and meetings.
    • Develop relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
    • Improve customer and broker perceptions through service enhancements.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to achieve business results.
    Requirements:
    • Formal engineering qualification (Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, or similar).
    • Experience in engineering and/or the construction industry.
    • Experience with large and complex projects.
    • Solid understanding of construction/property engineering risk, insurance, and claims.
    • Excellent communication, analytical, relationship management, and decision-making skills.
    • Resilient to change, collaborative, and committed team player.
    • Continuous pursuit of innovation and improvement.
    • Customer-oriented, valuing the human aspect of insurance.
    • Proven track record in large and complex risk assessments.
    • Experience in insurance risk engineering is advantageous.
    • Additional skills are a plus.
