Role Summary

Rokstone Underwriting is seeking a motivated Assistant Casualty Underwriter to join our UK & Ireland team. This role will focus on supporting a portfolio of third-party liability risks, including Employers’, Public, and Products Liability, with additional exposure to Professional Indemnity and other casualty lines.

You will work closely with the Underwriting team, brokers and internal stakeholders to support technical underwriting decisions, develop business opportunities, and support profitable growth across the UK and Ireland casualty portfolio.

Role Accountabilities

• Support underwriters in evaluating new business and renewals in casualty classes, including EL, PL, and Products Liability.
• Perform risk analysis and assist in pricing and structuring coverage in line with underwriting guidelines.
• Draft and review policy documentation, endorsements, and quote presentations.
• Liaise directly with brokers to request information and clarify underwriting queries.
• Maintain underwriting and system records accurately and consistently.
• Monitor portfolio data, assist with reporting, and support ongoing audit or compliance requirements.
• Contribute to internal projects, product development, and continuous process improvements.
• Begin to build an understanding of underwriting appetite and make initial underwriting assessments within pre-agreed referral levels.

Role Requirements

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Confident communicator with a professional, proactive approach to internal and external interactions.
• Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and insurance systems; exposure to underwriting platforms is advantageous.
• Enthusiastic about developing a career in underwriting and progressing toward increased responsibility.
• Working toward Cert CII or higher qualification is strongly encouraged
