Assistant Underwriter (Terrorism)

Description
Our Terrorism team provide wide and inclusive cover to businesses for acts of terrorism and sabotage committed for political, religious, ideological or similar reasons. Our Terrorism team brings extensive experience and innovation to address the unique types of exposures facing their markets today, and tomorrow.
As part of our continued growth we now have an opportunity for someone with prior Insurance experience and a willingness to develop technical underwriting and business development skills, to join us as an Assistant Underwriter.
You’ll learn to develop and underwrite profitable business within CFC’s Terrorism team. You’ll support the team across a variety of areas, including supporting with new business development, underwriting renewal accounts, building and maintaining broker relationships and responding to Terrorism queries from other product line underwriters.

About the role
  • Respond to and manage account enquiries from brokers in a timely and professional manner, prioritizing as required to meet deadlines and SLAs;
  • Follow up with brokers for new underwriting and renewals quotes;
  • Deliver a consistently great customer experience to our brokers and clients;
  • Management of the Terrorism renewals portfolio including regular email/phone communication with brokers for binding renewals;
  • Ensure that all policy endorsements and mid-term adjustments are completed quickly and accurately;
  • Complete documentation and filing and in adherence with CFC processes and policy standards, ensuring quality and accuracy of data captured at all times;
  • Maintain regular liaison with key internal stakeholders across the business (e.g. Property underwriting team, Finance, Compliance and IT) to ensure timely processing of data internally as required;
  • Support the Team Leader and team members with ad-hoc duties and projects;
  • Meet team performance standards and contribute effectively as part of the Terrorism team.

About you
We are looking for driven, self-starters with a strong work ethic who can contribute to a fast-paced working environment and work within a high performance team. You will need to be sales and service focussed, confident and personable on the phone and in front of our customers and be able to demonstrate a hunger and aptitude to support growth within the team. You will be analytical with strong attention to detail but also able to reach conclusions quickly and make effective decisions.

You will be expected to work at a high pace and intensity that underpins the successful framework of the CFC business and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support our ambitious growth plans.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2-3 years of experience within the insurance industry preferably with exposure to underwriting Terrorism or a similar class of business. Given the emerging nature of our class of insurance, a successful candidate will have an interest in technology and be keen to stay on top of current affairs within the industry.
