Chichester District Council is recruiting an Assistant Tree Officer to support the Tree Officer with applications for works to protected trees and requests for tree preservation orders. You will also help customers with queries and spend time visiting trees in the field as well as in the office.

The role offers practical on‑the‑job training and further training in trees, with an emphasis on developing a career in arboriculture within local government.

Qualifications

• The role is suitable for someone starting a career in arboriculture or an experienced arborist moving to local government.
• On‑the‑job training provided by the Tree Officer, with additional formal training in trees as needed.

Responsibilities

• Support the Tree Officer with applications for works to protected trees and requests for tree preservation orders.
• Assist customers with queries and provide information on tree-related matters.
• Occasional site visits and fieldwork in addition to office duties.
