Job summary

NMS Recruit Ltd t/a Russell Taylor Group is seeking an Assistant Transport Modeller to join its Midlands Transport Team in Leicester. The role involves supporting varied workloads for public and private sector clients, developing robust analysis and modelling outputs for key transport decisions.

You’ll contribute to dataset preparation, model output analysis, and client deliverables, while building experience with VISUM, SATURN, Excel and databases in a collaborative, development‑driven

Qualifications

• BSc in Mathematics or a closely related numerate subject.
• Strong numerical and analytical ability.
• Good spreadsheet skills, particularly Excel.
• Some experience or understanding of coding/programming.
• Methodical and structured approach to problem solving.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and develop within a specialist technical environment.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, check and analyse datasets for use within transport models.
• Analyse model outputs and interpret results.
• Assist in preparing technical papers, reports and client deliverables.
• Work with spreadsheets, databases and coding.
• Support experienced modellers on a range of transport modelling projects.
• Develop knowledge of VISUM and SATURN.
• Apply analytical and problem-solving skills to real-world transport challenges.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Maintain high standards of accuracy and quality per QA procedures.
