Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking an Assistant Transport Modeller to join the Midlands Transport Team in Leicester. You will support transport planning and modelling projects for private and public sector clients and gain on-the-job training in VISUM and SATURN.

You will handle data preparation, analysis and reporting, using spreadsheets and databases, and collaborate with colleagues to meet project deadlines while developing Transport Modelling skills close to home in Leicester.

Qualifications

• A BSc in Mathematics is required; MSc or PhD in Mathematics, Transport Planning or Engineering is desirable.
• Experience using Python and developing project management skills is desirable.
• A full, clean UK driving licence and access to a vehicle would be beneficial.

Job description

Are you looking to develop your career in transport modelling and work on a wide range of interesting projects? We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Transport Modeller to join our expanding Midlands Transport Team in Leicester, working for a leading technical consultancy with a strong presence in the UK and globally.

Purpose & Scope of the Role

You will support our growing workload, working on a wide variety of transport planning and modelling projects for clients across the private and public sectors.

You will assist colleagues with checking, analysing and preparing data for use in transport models, as well as analysing and summarising outputs for inclusion in client reports. Your work will involve spreadsheets, databases and coding. Working alongside experienced transport modellers, you will receive on-the-job training in modelling-specific software such as VISUM and SATURN.

You will undertake your work with a high degree of diligence and quality, in line with Tetra Tech’s Quality Assurance processes. You will assist colleagues in preparing technical papers and client reports and will need to be well organised and able to manage your time effectively to meet project deadlines.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

You should have a BSc in Mathematics, although a numerate degree in a relevant subject such as Economics or Physics will also be considered. An MSc or PhD in Mathematics, Transport Planning or Engineering, experience using Python, an interest in transport economics and developing project management skills are desirable. A full, clean UK driving licence and ideally access to a vehicle would also be beneficial.

This is a full-time role based in Leicester, requiring at least two days per week working with the team in the Leicester office.
