• Effective communication with drivers, depot staff, management, and customers.
• Proficiency in basic IT and transport management systems; accurate record-keeping.
• Ability to solve problems under time pressure and make sound operational decisions.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is beneficial.
• Valid UK driving licence; HGV licence or CPC qualification is an advantage.

Role Description

The Assistant Transport/Depot Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Rainham, Essex, supporting the efficient day-to-day operation of the depot and transport fleet. This role involves coordinating vehicle movements and driver schedules, monitoring asset availability, and ensuring that jobs are completed safely, on time, and to client specifications. The person in this role will assist with route planning, managing documentation and compliance records, and overseeing vehicle checks and maintenance scheduling. They will help supervise depot staff, support health and safety practices, and maintain accurate operational reports and logs. The role also includes liaising with customers and internal teams to resolve operational issues, support service quality, and contribute to continuous improvement in depot and transport processes.
