Job summary

Workforce People and Data Ltd is seeking an Assistant to Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join a growing construction team in the United Kingdom. You will support senior commercial staff and project teams, helping manage costs, procurement, valuations, and final accounts across live projects.

The role offers a permanent position with a clear path to progression, exposure to live projects, ongoing training, and a supportive commercial team to develop towards an Intermediate QS role.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' construction experience (as Assistant/Junior/Intermediate QS).
• HNC/HND or degree in Quantity Surveying preferred.
• Good understanding of construction costs and subcontractor procurement.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Good communication and organisational ability.
• Confident using standard commercial software.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with project cost control and commercial reporting.
• Preparing and reviewing subcontractor enquiries.
• Obtaining and comparing quotations.
• Assisting with subcontractor procurement and appointments.
• Preparing valuations and payment applications.
• Reviewing subcontractor applications and payments.
• Monitoring project costs against budgets.
• Managing variations and change control.
• Assisting with forecasting and cash flow.
• Supporting the preparation of final accounts.
• Attending site and commercial meetings.
• Liaising with site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and clients.
• Maintaining accurate commercial and contractual records.
• Assisting with the identification and management of commercial risk.
