About The Role

An opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated person to work within our Decontamination Department at Pinderfields Hospital.

If you are looking for a change, why not try a new opportunity with the team in our busy Flexible Scoping Decontamination unit? Full training will be given by members of the team. Attention to detail is a key requirement, so if you have a good eye for detail, why not apply straight away?

There is 1 full-time permanent position working 37.5 hours per week. The shift pattern is Monday to Friday, 12pm to 8pm, with an on-call requirement for a Sunday to be discussed at the interview stage.

Main duties
  • Work as an integral part of the department team in receipt, disassembly, cleaning, disinfection, reassembly, packing, and sterilisation of surgical instruments (medical devices).
  • Record all tasks on the department's computerised tracking and tracing system.
  • Work in accordance with the department Standard Operating Procedures and the Quality Management System.
Key Requirements
  • Manual cleaning and inspection of scopes, working with the Endoscope Washer Disinfector, drying cabinets, and scope packaging system in line with ISO13485 quality management system.
  • Utilise and understand the instrument tracking system.
  • Participate in general tidiness and cleaning of the department environment.
  • Assist with stock control systems and maintain economical use of commodities.
  • Contribute to maintaining appropriate stock levels and resource utilisation.
  • Take precautions for staff safety during working hours.
  • Attend yearly mandatory updates including fire training and moving and handling.
  • Ensure work areas are safe and hazard-free.
  • Participate in flexible scope decontamination induction and on-the-job training.
  • Demonstrate performance and capability after training.
  • Work methodically and systematically, demonstrating dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Work efficiently in a busy environment with tight deadlines, maintaining high standards.
  • Work under instruction quickly and accurately.
  • Maintain, store, and secure equipment properly, e.g., flexible scopes.
  • Assist with training new staff members.
  • Report environmental or equipment defects promptly.
  • Check and troubleshoot flexible scopes and automated endoscope reprocessors (AER).
  • Ensure scopes are cleaned and maintained per BSG Guidelines, through training and competency assessments.
  • Demonstrate a customer-focused approach and respond to service demands.
  • Participate in the on-call rota for theatre scopes decontamination.
  • Prioritise work to ensure equipment is available within deadlines.
