Assistant Team Manager – Occupational Therapy

Teams:

Reablement Team

Community Occupational Therapy Team

Hours: 37 Hours per Week

We have a fabulous opportunity for two Assistant Team Managers (ATM) to join our evolving Community Occupational Therapy and Reablement Teams.

We offer the opportunity to influence and assist in developing and innovating within these dynamic services and to play an important role in how OT practice is delivered to the residents of Solihull.

Our Reablement Team supports people to regain their independence at home, reduce their packages of care and achieve a good quality of life by achieving their goals. We provide a service for Solihull residents aged 18 and above and we are supported by Early Response and Enhanced Reablement Services. We are seeking a creative OT to help us grow this service to meet raising demands and embrace new ways of working for successful outcomes. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, acting as specialist OT practice lead.

Our Community Team specialise in ensuring individuals of all ages receive the support they need to maintain their independence at home. Your team will support people and their carers, providing a strength based assessment, which may include moving and handling, assessing for aids and adaptations by implementing a least restrictive approach and promoting independence. Join our caring and compassionate team and support to make a meaningful difference in our community.

As an OT Assistant Team Manager within Solihull, your responsibilities will include providing line management and support to a team of OTs and OT Assistants (OTAs). Your team will focus on promoting well-being by assessing and delivering interventions that enhance individuals' quality of life in their own homes.

Reporting to the Team Manager, you will also link closely with other ATM’s across the services. You will oversee case allocation and be responsible for the monitoring of practice, practitioner performance and staff or service development needs.

You will also be responsible for operational decisions in support of the Team Manager, ensuring that the service delivers a fair, equitable and timely service for residents whilst meeting our statutory duties.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A Diploma or BSc (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy
  • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration
  • Substantial post qualifying experience in OT Services.
  • Supervisory experience of staff or experience as a Practice Placement Educator for students
  • Knowledge of relevant current legislation and implications for practice
  • Excellent communication skills with colleagues, people and a range of other partner agencies and professionals.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and the challenges associated with the provision of community equipment, major and minor adaptations and supporting people with moving and handling needs.

You will also hold a driving licence and own your own vehicle as this is an essential car user post due to the demands of the job. For disabled applicants, reasonable adjustments will be made where required.

In return for your hard work and commitment, we offer an environment of supportive colleagues and management who recognise the value of OT and the opportunity to embed this as a passionate advocate for Occupational Therapy.

We also offer:

  • A range of flexible working options, including working on a hybrid basis; combining home and office-based working, alongside occasional community visits.
  • Generous annual leave entitlements with the opportunity to purchase up to 10-days additional leave per year
  • A flexitime scheme with up to 24 days per year
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Programme – a 24 hour independent, free and confidential advice and support service
  • Family and carer friendly policies
  • Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Employee benefits including staff discounts, subsidised travel passes and Cycle 2 Work Scheme
